Where to begin?
You studied hard and now have a decent job. You and your significant other even managed buy your first home. Well done!
Looking at your finances you see the bills, the loans, and the tiny amount you have been able to invest. It all seems chaotic. Have you done well? Can you do better? When will you get out of debt? What about saving for retirement? What if you start a family? Now you may feel lost and overwhelmed, and don't even want to look at your finances anymore.
You mention this to a friend one day and they ask why you have't gotten some help? Someone to help straighten it all out with you and give you an idea of how to make the best of it. They could even show you different options available to you depending on how you see yourself evolving.
After meeting with such a couple a few times, their budget (cash flow) is now under control, their insurance and investment portfolios are in place and off to a good start. There is also a plan on how to repay the loans (Debt management) within a reasonable amount of time as well a strategy to minimize income taxes and use those refunds to their best advantage.
Talk about relief. No more feeling lost. Instead, they now know where they are at and where they are headed with their finances. Things are finally under control and on track, and it takes very little effort to keep it that way. Getting help or even a second opinion is such a morale booster!
